It’s been a bit of a quiet start to 2009 on the blog (while writing is happening in many forms offline), but rest assured our BioGPS development efforts are well underway. Lots of exciting new features planned, including a revamp of the plugin library user interface.

Tomorrow, I head off to ScienceOnline09 in Research Triangle Park, NC. While the conference is ostensibly about science communication, there’s also a significant portion of the program devoted to using new communication modes to do science.

In addition to the a session on Community intelligence applied to gene annotation led by John Hogenesch and me, I’m especially looking forward to sessions on the Semantic web in science, Open Notebook Science, and Social networking for scientists. This is also will be a great opportunity to meet many online-only contacts in person.

For those who aren’t planning on being there physically, there are many options for virtual participation as well.

One final note. Friday forecast for San Diego: 76° F. For RTP: 34° F. Brrrr…
