The manuscript describing BioGPS has just been published online in Genome Biology! Currently it’s only available as a provisional PDF, but the final typeset version should be available in the next couple weeks. [Edit: the final version of the manuscript is now live.]

The paper is a basic introduction to the site, and pretty much describes the features and design philosophy that our existing users are already familiar with. Specifically, BioGPS emphasizes community extensibility via the simple HTML-based plugin interface, and also emphasizes user customizability using the flexible layout system. Together, these two principles underlie our overall focus on community intelligence initiatives in science, and you’ll be seeing many more tangible features along these lines in 2010.
